COMMITTED TO HELPING THE DISABLED HELP THEMSELVES
Chethana - "Hope of Growth" a place for mentally challenged children which has been started in the year 2004 by Bharathi Seva Mandali Trust. With the objectives being to educate and rehabilitate mentally challenged children through the appropriate training and guidance to achieve the goal of enabling those children to lead an independent and peaceful life in the society in a best possible manner. Running such a kind of institution would not be so easy without the support and unity among the organizations. We are overwhelmed to have the internal as well external support not only from the faculties but also from some of the resource persons. As a result, Department for the Empowerment of differently abled and Senior Citizen was rewarded with State Award on December 3rd 2010.
Primarily when the project was planned there was no proper place for the institution to run on. By the time Sri Venkataramana Temple Trustees provided a part of building of their school as a concern, on temporary basis with mid-day lunch scheme and other facilities.
While observing the upcoming school activities of the school, one of the well wishers and also the President of the Building committee Sri. B. Ganapathi Hegde donated a valuable land in the out skirts of Karkala, away from the buzz of traffic under the shadow of Sri Krishna Kshethra, Anekere, Karkala. The land measuring about 0.50 acres (worth of Rs. 2 crores) was donated with the memory of his revered parents.
Institution was started with just 16 mentally challenged children in the year 2004. At present, it is working with a strength of 90 students among which 80% of the students are from rural area and are below the poverty line. They are pursuing free education in the institution. There are 10 teaching staff, 1 Physiotherapist, 1 Speech Therapist and 9 non-teaching staff members serving for the institution. The school runs with the monthly maintenance expenditure of Rs. 6,70,000/- which is being incurred with the help of donors & state government partial grant. Donation made to this Trust is having Income Tax Exemption U/S 80G of I.T.Act.1961
Physiotherapy and Speech Therapy Building is constructed with the cost of Rs.50 lakhs for the benefit of our special children as well as for public who are in need of it. We are also planning to construct vocational training centre building with estimated cost of Rs. 50 lakhs
We are entering into 20th year of dedicated service in the year 2023 by giving quality education and therapeutic services for the development of our special children
